Workshop Description
All students will need two additional travel days. Plan to arrive by 2:00 PM the day before the workshop begins, so there will be sufficient time to get through customs and immigration at the airport and then take a taxi to Los Muertos pier to catch the 4:00 ponga (water taxi) for Yelapa. Students should plan on scheduling a flight on the day following the last day of the workshop. Or, if you want to stay on in Yelapa, let me know and I will be happy to help you find accomodations.
Day One
Group meeting. Workshop content reviewed. Walking and note-taking tour of Yelapa. Discussion group explores potential subjects. Journaling and planning for next day's shoot. How to build relationships with your subjects. Shooting logistics and strategy.
Day Two
Small groups are formed to explore several practice subjects. Shooting begins. Small groups meet with instructor to review and critique the day's images. Students make decisions about what subject to begin shooting on the following day.
Day Three
Students begin exploring and shooting their chosen subject. Evening review of images.
Day Four
Following feedback from instructor and other students, you will go back into the field prepared to capture your original subject, or a second subject, in more depth and with an eye for details.
Day Five
Group meets in morning to review and critique prior day's images. This will be done on a computer screen for attention to detail. Shooting continues in afternoon.
Day Six
All images are reviewed in morning. Students work with instructor to pick images for their portfolios. Images are downloaded to CD. Print and assembly of portfolio begins.
Day Seven
Print and assembly of portfolios continues and finishes today. Group presentation of portfolio. Celebration dinner.
