Digital Film Editing Workshop with Marilyn Rivchin $195.00
DIGITAL FILM EDITING FOR ARTISTS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, ARTISANS and FILMMAKERS.
with filmmaker Marilyn Rivchin
Saturday, Feb 8th 10-5 & Sunday Feb 9th, 1-5

This is a two session, intensive, hands-on series for those video editors and enthusiasts who want to move beyond basic video editing, or those beginners who want a full overview of a complex editing system to try out. We’ll be using a very sophisticated editing program — DaVinci Resolve* — which also happens to be a free** application. It is compatible with Macs, PC’s and Linux platforms. Our demos given on a Mac.

Session 1 is 6 hours, with a one-hour lunch break:
Bring in your own laptop and practice footage, music, etc., preferable on a portable/usb hard drive.** We will introduce and clarify the many technical options this program offers, including its user interface, importing and organizing your media, editing in layers or multi-clip, color grading, audio mixing, and the variety of delivery/outputs.

Session 2 is 4 hours:
As well as discussing your techie questions, we’ll review your first practice edits for concepts and aesthetics, i.e., visual interest, continuity, montage, pacing, sound qualities, etc. Because Resolve is a very deep program, this session will allow for adding subtle effects, adjusting compositions, audio mixing, finer color grading, titling, etc., and we’ll make sure that you have time to output your practice project to the format(s) you want.
