IMAGINE THAT!

at Taos Center for the Arts
Dates of Exhibition
October 11-17th, 2006 11am-7pm daily
Artist Reception
Friday, October 13,2006 5:30-7:30 PM
A two-person exhibition featuring the new works of Taos photographer, Jari Poulin and the mixed media paintings of Mexican artist, Deimoz will open on October 11th and run through October 17th at the Taos Center for the Arts, Stables Gallery.
The exhibit is entitled “IMAGINE that!,” which reflects a focus on the imagination that is present in both Deimoz and Jari’s work. Deimoz’s playful work is created primarily from waking and sleeping dreams with subject matter that is often reminiscent of child’s perspective. With a mixture of watercolors, oils, acrylics and often augmented with confetti, glitter and other materials, Deimoz creates paintings that feature subjects as wide ranging as pigeons, scarecrows and inter-galactic flowers.
Jari Poulin’s work will feature new abstract works that reveal the beauty in the ordinary. Her large works take a close look at texture, color and composition in subjects that include vernacular architecture, micro-landscapes and details of surfaces that hold layers of beauty and whose compositions are often referred to as “painterly” by colleagues and viewers. Because her work has a focus on texture, Jari prefers to make large prints of her work that reveal a detail and depth that stimulates the sense of touch in the viewer.
Deimoz resides in the small fishing village of Yelapa in Jalisco, Mexico. He will be present at the Stables Gallery for most of the exhibit along with Jari Poulin, This is the second exhibit at the Stables Gallery for both Jari Poulin and Deimoz. In the first week of July, they shared a two-person exhibit entitled “Paint” at the Stables and now return with a body of new work to share with the public.
An artist reception will be held on Friday, October 13 from 5:30-7:30 for the public. The exhibit is free and will be open 11:00am to 7:00 pm daily. The Stables Gallery is located at 133 Paseo del Pueblo Norte behind Caffe Renato. For more information please contact the Taos Center for the Arts (505) 758-2052.
